A town changed its name to Google

Topeka, Kansas unnoficially changed its name to Google, Kansas for a month when the search giant was looking for markets to test its new fiber-optic technology.

The mayor called Topeka in March, 2010

“Google, Kansas, the capital city of fiber optics.”

Google announced it would return the gesture by changing its name to Topeka… on April Fool’s Day. They did change their home page logo to Topeka.
