BBC’s Radio Times said No to Sinatra

“He requires his photograph to occupy the whole front page”

A sentence from a BBC memo regarding The Voice‘s appearance on the cover of Radio Times. According to the letter, “a definite condition on which the whole thing falls to the ground”.

Well, even though he was bigger than anyone at that time (July 1953), Sinatra played the gig but didn’t get to be on the cover, which was occupied by the Coronation Review of the Royal Air Force.
