A castle in Scotland is a giant pineapple

The Dunmore Pineapple is a folly ranked “as the most bizarre building in Scotland“. It stands in Dunmore Park, near Airth in Stirlingshire.

It’s not clear when or why the pineapple was built but despite the unconventional design and the mix of architectural styles, the effect is harmonious because the pineapple and the portico are made of the same stone. The identity of the designer is uncertain, but it is often attributed to Sir William Chambers.
