Character portraits in “Metal Gear 2” were based on famous people

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was the official sequel to Metal Gear for the MSX by the now famous Hideo Kojima.

But back then, Kojima wasn’t that famous -nor was Metal Gear– so he based the game’s character portraits on very recognizable people; mostly actors from the 80’s but also one timeless scientist:

Solid Snake: Mel Gibson (on Lethal Weapon); Big Boss: Sean Connery (on The Hunt for the Red October); Roy Campbell: Richard Crenna (on Rambo); Frank Jaeger: Tom Berenger (on Platoon); George Kasler: Dolph Lundgren (on Red Scorpion); Yozev Norden (later, Johan Jacobsen): Bob Hoskins; and Dr. Drago Pettrovich Madnar: Albert Einstein.
