David Gilmour was the first performer to play in Pompeii since gladiator times

The legendary frontman of the equally legendary band Pink Floyd became the first performer to play in the amphitheater of Pompeii in front of a live audience since gladiator times.

Featuring Gilmour and Pink Floyd’s signature circular screen, lasers, and pyrotechnics, the gigs were the first-ever performances since 79 AD. The amphitheater was built in 90 BC and demolished when the Vesuvius volcano erupted and covered the city.
