The first human killing seen live on TV was that of Kennedy’ assassin

The shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald -the man accused of killing US President John F. Kennedy- by Jack Ruby on 24 November 1963 was broadcast live on national television and, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, is the first known human killing seen live on TV.

The JFK assassination itself could have been the first one but it was not shown live on TV; the footage was shelved until 1975, when it was shown on ABC’s “Good Night America” for the first time.
