Graham Greene once came second in a “Write like Graham Greene” contest

Famous writer Graham Greene once decided to enter a contest called “Write like Graham Greene” under the pen name N. Wilkinson.

His entry was entitled “The Stranger’s Hand”. He won second prize.

This is similar to the Charlie Chaplin anecdote who, during the 1920’s, went to a Chaplin-look-alike competition in San Francisco and didn’t even make it to the finals.
