The man who green-lighted “Lost” lost his job

After reading the first script for Lost, Lloyd Braun was convinced that he had found a drama series that would rival the success of NBC’s ER.

A worldwide phenomenon and nowadays a cult series, it’s hard to believe that people from the industry thought that Lost was going to fail badly:

A crazy project that’s never going to work.- Michael Eisner, Chairman and Chief Executive of Disney

A waste of time.- Bob Iger, his deputy.

It was Iger who told Braun the bad news: he was dumped for having green-lit a $12 million pilot that still didn’t have a script.
