Half of all books sold in Iceland are sold right before Christmas

Over half of all books sold in Iceland are sold in the month before Christmas.

Icelandics, as well as other Northern Europeans such as Swedes and Norwegians, are great readers (probably due to their freezing cold winters!).

Iceland even has an official book-buying season called Jólabókaflóð, which runs from September to December.
