Hurricane Katrina caused an 85% reduction in the amount of babies with that name

Hurricane Katrina, which formed on August 23, 2005 and dissipated on August 31 of the same year, was one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States.

Because of it, the amount of babies named Katrina declined going from around 700 to roughly 100 in 2016.

The name reached its highest popularity in 1980, with over 2,000 baby girls being named Katrina.
