Lennon once almost beat a man to death

Wasn’t Lennon a pacifist? Yes, but not all his life, particularly when he was a young rock star at the start of his fantastic career.

Every Beatles fan knows that the band’s manager, Brian Epstein, was gay, and that he had a big crush on John Lennon (even though he apparently made passes at all band members). At the time, Lennon was married to first wife Cynthia. After she’d just given birth to their son Julian, John and Brian went on vacation to Spain; Lennon would later admit that this was a horrible thing to do.

12 days in Spain made the people of Liverpool believe that this was more than just a friendship and rumors started. When they got back, a DJ named Bob Wooler joked about it and asked Lennon to tell them about what really had happened.

Drunk and in a bling rage, Lennon started kicking him in the ribs and according to the singer himself, he stopped because he thought “I can kill this guy”.
