Are tomatoes fruits or vegetables? They’re both!
Botanically, a fruit is a ripened flower ovary that contains seeds; that makes tomatoes and zucchinis fruits. On the other hand, they are considered vegetables by nutritionists because they use the term “fruit” to describe sweet and fleshy botanical fruits, and “vegetable” for a other plant parts that are not so high in fructose.
Also, in most cultures, vegetables tend to be served as part of the main dish or side, whereas sweet fruits are typically snacks or desserts. That’s why most of us consider tomatoes a vegetable. The same goes for avocados which are also fruits!
